Follow Your Bliss
This past month I saw a gal doing something that I found tremendously scary. She joined a singing group - and she even performed live on stage! Can you imagine? There they were – a dozen Moms singing away with their hearts on their sleeves. But, as moved as I was by their courage, it was the example they were setting for their kids that really got me. They are following their bliss.
Another gal rekindled her running bug, just running little bits but then she ran a half marathon and there were her kids at the finish line – beaming with pride. Another wrote and self published a book – and it’s selling!
It really makes me think - my kids are watching all my choices. My choices with my time, my words, and yes, even my food. While they are not all blissful choices, at least a few include volunteering, saying please and thank you and cooking real food. Whether I brought dinner to a friend or picked up an extra carpool shift. Or, cleaned their rooms without mentioning it later. No matter what it was, they saw me doing something for someone else.
This is my bliss. I love to cook but even more, I love to feed. I get the same rush as the gal on stage or the one crossing the finish line when I make and deliver a yummy meal to a pal. I’m completely over the moon when I here someone tried a Real family Real Food dinner menu and it was a hit! Then I’ve hit the daily double – I get to share my passion for family dinnertime and they get the satisfaction and kudos!
I encourage you to rekindle and follow your bliss in 2015, whatever it may be, and to let it be an example to your kids.
